Description

Eid al-Adha is a festive day, full of feasting and celebration. This Lamb and Mushroom Pie recipe is the perfect dish for the Eid al-Adha menu, combining tender lamb and flavorful mushrooms into a delicious pie.


Ingredients

  • 500g lamb, diced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 200g mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 sheet of puff pastry
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

Step 1:

  • Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until translucent.
  • Add the diced lamb to the skillet and cook until browned.

Step 2:

  • Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook until they are tender.
  • Season with cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Adjust seasoning to taste.

Step 3:

  • Roll out the puff pastry sheet and line a pie dish with it.
  • Fill the pie crust with the lamb and mushroom mixture.
  • Cover the pie with another sheet of puff pastry or create a lattice pattern with strips of pastry.

Step 4:

  • Brush the pastry with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and crispy.
