Description

Osmanthus Honey Pork Ribs are a delectable dish that combines the tender, savory flavors of pork ribs with the floral aroma of osmanthus flowers and the sweet glaze of honey.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds pork ribs
  • 2 tablespoons dried osmanthus flowers
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon five-spice powder
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

Step 1:

  • Prepare the marinade by combining the dried osmanthus flowers, honey, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, five-spice powder, and sesame oil in a large bowl.
  • Mix well to ensure all ingredients are thoroughly combined.

Step 2:

  • Season the pork ribs with salt and pepper. Place the ribs in the bowl with the marinade, making sure they are well-coated.
  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the ribs marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or preferably overnight for more intense flavor.

Step 3:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Remove the ribs from the marinade and place them on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil.
  • Reserve the marinade for later use. Cover the ribs with another sheet of aluminum foil to keep them moist during baking.

Step 4:

  • Bake the ribs in the preheated oven for 1 hour. After 1 hour, remove the top layer of foil and brush the ribs with the reserved marinade.
  • Increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C) and bake for an additional 30 minutes, basting the ribs with the marinade every 10 minutes until they are nicely glazed and caramelized.

Notes

  • For extra tender ribs, you can first simmer them in water for 30 minutes before marinating to reduce cooking time and ensure they remain juicy.
  • If you prefer a smoky flavor, you can finish the ribs on a grill over medium heat for a few minutes on each side after baking.
  • Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds for added flavor and presentation.
